Question: Shinigami eyes half a normal human's life span in half. Why can't the people with the eyes see the life span of themselves or others with the eyes?

Firstly, just for future reference, Takada was with Raito in college.
Second, people don't have to have the eyes for with people with the eyes to not be able to see their lifespan.

The answer is: If someone has a death note, their lifespan cannot be seen by anyone but the Shinigami.
